  • Why buy from here over your Etsy store?
If you're in a hurry and want your patterns immediately then our Etsy shop is the way to go, but there are several advantages to buying through this website: 1. Cost: Etsy's fees cost 1.5 - 3 times what my website provider charges, plus Etsy has mandatory advertising fees and hidden extras. Lower fees over here mean I'm able to pass on the saving, and make prices lower. 2. Choice: Because Etsy charges so much (and charges per listing, whether it sells or not) it makes listing loads of patterns a bit of gamble for a seller. With this site, I'm free to add as many patterns as my heart desires, which means I can offer you, the buyer, a much wider selection. If a pattern isn't all that popular, so what? It'll be here, ready and waiting for those customers who do want it ♥ No more having to contact me to re-list an awesome pattern you found on Pinterest. 3. Support: by choosing independent websites like mine, you're supporting small businesses even further. Moving away from large platforms like Etsy is a risk for any small business, so every order really does mean the world to the person on this end of the screen! Please also know that, in this age of apps and instant messages, I'm notified as soon as your order comes through. Please bear in mind, though, that I'm now having to run FCS around a full-time job (yaaaay cost of living crisis...!), buy if I'm home, I will hop on the computer then and there to send your files across. I want to make buying from me a positive and friendly experience for you, so rest assured I will get your patterns to you as quickly as I possibly can.
  • Why is there a shipping option for digital files?
There are 2 categories of product for sale here: digital patterns, and physical products. Physical products (kits & needleminders): These will be packed & dispatched within 3-5 working days (usually much sooner!). Drop-off at the Post Office is usually done on Mondays & Fridays and you'll receive your shipping confirmation email then. Your order will then make its way to you according to Royal Mail's shipping estimates (2-3 working days for UK post; 5-7 days for International). If you're located outside of the UK, please allow a little extra time for your parcel to clear customs. Digital patterns: Because of the VAT laws in the UK, my pattern files are sent manually (i.e. I email them across to you, rather than providing an automatic download link), which means they are marked as a "physical product" on my website. If you're buying a pattern, you won't be charged for shipping, but you will need to select a shipping option at checkout. It doesn't matter which one you choose, the charges don't apply to digital files. The 'estimated delivery times' associated with the different shipping options don't apply to digital files either; once you've checked out, your files will be delivered in an email within 1-3 working days. Please ensure 'fandomcrossstitchery@mail.com' and 'info@fandomcrossstitchery.com' are on your safe senders list! If you'd rather not wait, that's fine! I have a busy Etsy store and a Love It Stitch It store where you can get instant downloads of many of my patterns! Important note about international orders: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer shipping of physical items (kits, needleminders etc) to certain countries, however, customers can still purchase digital patterns. If your country is on this list, please do not attempt to purchase physical items, as your order will be cancelled and you will be refunded (minus any processing fees charged by the payment provider). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
  • How do I buy a pattern?
You can either buy through Etsy and receive an instant download link, or buy through the website and receive an email within 1-3 working days of purchase. The website prices are lower, and there's more choice, so if you're happy to wait a day, I'd definitely recommend it over Etsy!
  • I don't have a printer, is there any point me buying a pattern?
You don't need a printer to use the pattern! The eco-friendly option is to view it on a tablet, phone, or computer instead! That's what we use the colour files for, and it's much nicer than having reams of paper blowing about the garden when stitching in the sunshine. Also, all files sold through this website are compatible with the Pattern Keeper app (although the app unfortunately still does not recognise fractional stitches, French knots, or backstitching) If you still want a physical copy, there are a number of online document printing companies that you can use, or you can get in touch and I can arrange to have a copy printed and mailed to you.
  • What will I receive?
Each listing tells you exactly what you will receive with your order but, broadly speaking: DIGITAL PRODUCTS If you buy a digital pattern you will receive an email with multiple digital PDF files of your cross stitch pattern attached. There is no physical item to be delivered. The pattern is yours to print and use as many times as you wish, but please do not copy, sell, or give away the pattern itself. I email across these orders, and am working around my full-time job (yaaaaay cost of living crisis!) so please allow up to 3 working days (though they're normally sent within a couple of hours). PHYSICAL PRODUCTS If you buy a cross stitch kit you will receive the items necessary to create the piece. At a minimum this includes Aida fabric, thread, needles, a printout of the pattern, and a printout of our 'how to cross stitch' guide. Some kits also include needleminders, embroidery hoops, and backing felt; each listing details what is included. If you buy a needleminder you'll receive a decorative minder, permanently secured to a strong magnet, with a free-floating second magnet. The minder will be placed on a decorative backing card for shipping. If you buy a ready-made piece you will receive that piece, usually in an embroidery hoop backed with felt. If you buy scissors or snips that's exactly what you'll receive! Full details are included with each listing, and each piece is packaged with great care to ensure it reaches you in tip top condition. FREE PATTERNS These are usually a single PDF file which you can download directly from our 'Free Patterns' page. The pattern is yours to print and use as many times as you wish, but please do not copy, sell, or give away the pattern itself.
  • How long will it take to reach me?
That depends on what you've ordered! 1. If you've ordered a digital pattern, please allow 1 working day for me to email across your files. Often this is much sooner, as I'm usually at my computer during (UK) working hours, but you'll have it with you within 1 working day. 2. If you've ordered a physical product (a cross stitch kit or needleminder), it will be packed and in the post to you within 5 working days. That's the outside limit; it's usually on its way the day after purchase, but I allow 5 working days in case of unforeseen calamities at this end! How long it takes to reach you depends entirely on the postal service(s). Everything is sent via UK Royal Mail, so be sure to check their website for current delivery times. UK mail is sent via 2nd class post as standard (2nd class recorded for anything over £20 in value), with optional upgrades to 1st class/1st class recorded. International mail is sent either via "Tracked", "Signed", or "Tracked & Signed" depending on the services offered at the destination country. Please also bear in mind a potential delay in clearing customs. All products are sent with the correct paperwork, but occasionally they'll take a little longer to make their way through to you. From Royal Mail's website: UK 2nd Class: delivery aim 2-3 working days UK 1st Class: delivery aim 1 working day International Tracked/Signed/Tracked & Signed: delivery aim 3-5 working days
  • Where do you ship to?
We offer worldwide shipping for all digital items. We deliver physical products (kits, needleminders etc) to a wide range of countries, including, but not limited to: United Kingdom (Including Channel Islands) United States Australia Belgium Canada China Croatia Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Greenland Hungary Iceland Ireland Jamaica Japan Malaysia Netherlands New Zealand Norway Singapore Slovenia South Africa Switzerland Thailand Unfortunately, we are unable to offer shipping of physical items (kits, needleminders etc) to certain countries, however, customers can still purchase digital patterns. If your country is on the list below, please do not attempt to purchase physical items, as your order will be cancelled and you will be refunded (minus any processing fees charged by the payment provider). We apologise for any inconvenience caused. • How do I view my files?
All files are in PDF format, so you'll need a PDF viewer if you don't already have one. I use Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free here: https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
  • The symbols are too small / large!  Help!
I've tried to ensure a good balance between the size of the symbols and the number of pages to be printed, so that too much paper isn't wasted. That said, if you do find the symbols too small to work with (or would prefer them smaller!) just get in touch and I'll gladly enlarge the pattern for you so it's easier to work with. This way it will print over more pages, and each symbol will be larger. If you find the colours hard to distinguish, or require anything changing to make the pattern more accessible, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
  • The backstitching is covering the symbols, there are too many colours; it's overwhelming!
If you're struggling to work from the patterns you've received with your order, please do get in touch and I'd be happy to send it to you in a different form. With patterns that are heavy on the backstitching, I do try to include a file with only the backstitching, and one without any backstitching, so that you can work on each individually. If you require something different, you only have to ask! Usually the backstitching is denoted by bright colours on your pattern, so as to more clearly distinguish between multiple colours, but I do understand that this can also be overwhelming. If you'd like a new pattern file with each individual colour of backstitching separate, or with high contrast, low contrast, or specific colours just ask. I always try to make my patterns accessible so if there are any adjustments that you need or want, I will gladly action them. Each pattern can be rendered in several different ways (e.g. different sizes, symbols, colours, with or without backstitching), so we're sure to find something that's easy on your eyes. If you're still feeling overwhelmed, my advice would be to step away from the piece and work on something easier for a while. There are lots of simpler pieces in our shop, and on our 'Freebies' page; look for something with "full crosses only" (no backstitch, French knots, or other fancy malarkey), and few colours. Get your mojo back then tackle that white whale!
  • There seem to be rows missing when I print. Help!
Make sure the paper you're printing on matches the dimensions of the file you're trying to print. Older patterns were only released in A4 size (that's 210mm × 297mm/ 8.27" × 11.69"). If you're trying to print an A4 pattern on any other dimension of paper, you'll usually end up with missed rows / columns. More recently-released files feature both A4 and US Letter size. If you don't have the right file size, just get in touch and I'll re-jig the file to fit onto your paper size. I don't do this as standard as A4 and US Letter cover the majority of users, but the option is always there if you'd prefer it on something else.
  • How do I get a paper copy of my new pattern?
You'll need a printer, or some means of printing. If you don't have a printer (or a friend who owes you a favour!) there are a number of online document printing services. Or you can go green and just view it on a tablet instead - all our patterns are compatible with the Pattern Keeper app. If you do want to print your pattern, here's how to do it: 1. You will receive at least one file suitable for A4 paper, and one suitable for US Letter paper (the filenames will end with 'A4' or 'US') Open the one that best fits your paper. 2. Choose the part of the file you wish to print. Each file you receive (excluding the freebies which are in our old format) includes 3 different versions of the same pattern, one after the other: 'Symbols on colour' (black/white symbols on coloured squares) 'Black and white' (simple black symbols) 'Colour' (symbols coloured to reflect the threads they represent) For black and white printers, and for simplicity, I recommend printing the 'black and white' pages, but if you have a colour printer or just prefer the other files, they're there! 3. Go to the 'print' option in your PDF viewer (usually under 'File -> Print' or similar) and type in the page numbers of the pages you want to print (f you leave the selection as 'all', then all 3 versions of the pattern will print and you'll waste precious ink/toner and paper) Don't forget the key at the end of the file! 4. Make sure the scale is set to '100%' and not 'Fit', and that your paper type is the right size for the file you're printing (printing an A4 file on US Letter paper, for example, will cut off entire rows of the patterns!). You might also want to consider an ink/toner saver option if you have one. 5. Hit 'Print' and you're done!
  • Free patterns?  What's the catch?
The Freebies really are free; the only catch is you can't transfer or sell the patterns themselves. Honestly, I love being able to give away stuff, without having to pay through to nose to ship physical items all over the world (as I did with my last business!). It means I can do little giveaways, and make cutesie little patterns to have as permanent freebies. Sometimes there really are no strings attached, so enjoy your free stuff! Freebies Child-Friendly/SFW Freebies Thread Sorter Printables If you want to share your finished creations, I'd love to see them! You can email me, or find FCS on social media: TikTok | Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest
  • How do I contact you?
I'd rather you didn't show up on my doorstep (I'm hugely antisocial and am usually in Hermit Mode), but I do love a good chat, so there are a number of online ways to get in touch. The easiest way is via an email to fandomcrossstitchery@gmail.com, or the instant webchat at the bottom right of each page. You can also find me on Etsy and click the 'contact' button under my picture. Then there's social media! We're on Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Pinterest as @FandomCrossStitchery and Twitter/X as @FandomXStitch, although I don't check Twitter that often (apparently I'm easily confused by technology), so if you really need me I'd recommend one of the others.
  • How do you ship your products?
I've spent a long time trying to find the right balance between eco-friendly packaging, cost, aesthetic, and adequate protection. As a result, almost everything you'll receive in or around your physical order is some combination of recyclable, biodegradable, upcycled/reused, made from recycled/sustainable materials. Everything that comes through my door gets assessed for its reusability, with the double advantage of not contributing to new manufacture, and saving money on packaging (meaning I can charge you less!). I've cut out unnecessary extras like branded tissue and ribbons, and anything that can be is emailed instead of printed. Mail is collected from my house when the postman drops off my own mail, so there are no unnecessary car journeys, and you're given the choice of whether you want your kit boxes wrapped or sent naked (to avoid unnecessary paper). Even the padded mailing bags are 100% paper, so no more having to rip them apart to remove the bubble wrap! Full details on what I'm doing to keep green, what's included with each product, and how to dispose of everything you receive can be found on the Packaging Info page.
  • Needleminder Safety & Info
How to use your needleminder: To use the needleminder, place the decorative piece on top of your fabric, and the lone magnet underneath. Place your needle on top of the decorative piece to keep it handy. To separate magnets, slide them apart. Safety Information: The magnets used for our needleminders are incredibly strong and can jump together from several inches apart. Do not place skin or body parts between magnets as they can be pinched or trapped. The magnets are brittle. Do not allow magnets to slam together as they can chip, crack, or shatter. Keep away from children; needleminders are not toys nor are they intended for use by children. Small parts can be swallowed and can cause serious health issues. Magnets are nickel plated so keep away from people with a nickel allergy. Keep away from anyone with a pacemaker. Keep away from electronics & magnetic media.
